Meet your endodontist

Dr. Michael Lynn

Dr. Lynn earned his DMD from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine and completed his Endodontic Certificate and MSD at the Medical University of South Carolina, where he refined the techniques he uses every day to keep patients comfortable through root canal therapy. He is most proud of saving teeth that other offices have written off and of turning a stressful appointment into a story patients tell their friends about. Outside the office, you will find him on the ice playing hockey, on the golf course, or in the kitchen cooking. His goal for every visit is straightforward: clear answers, careful work, and a patient who leaves feeling better than they walked in.

Focused endodontic care, done well

Root canal therapy

Root canal therapy is one of the most misunderstood procedures in dentistry — and one of the most rewarding to perform. Dr. Lynn uses advanced techniques and precision imaging to remove infected or damaged tissue from inside the tooth, relieve your pain, and save a tooth that might otherwise need to come out, all while keeping you as comfortable as possible from start to finish.

Endodontic retreatment

Sometimes a tooth that has already had a root canal needs a second look. Endodontic retreatment is the process of reopening a previously treated tooth, removing the old filling material, and carefully cleaning and resealing the canals to address lingering or new infection. It can feel discouraging to hear that a tooth needs more work, but retreatment is often the best path to keeping it — and Dr. Lynn approaches every case with the same patience, precision, and care he brings to any first-time procedure.

Apicoectomies

An apicoectomy — also called endodontic microsurgery — is a minor surgical procedure that removes the tip of a tooth's root when infection persists after a root canal or retreatment. Dr. Lynn performs apicoectomies with precision, using advanced CBCT 3D imaging to plan your procedure and an endodontic microscope to visualize and treat the infection directly. This combination of cutting-edge technology and meticulous technique means you receive the most accurate, effective care, so you feel informed and at ease every step of the way.

A different kind of root canal experience

Every detail considered. Every patient at ease.

Endodontics is all we do here, and that focus shapes everything from the equipment we use to the way a visit feels. Dr. Lynn brings specialized training, precision technology, and a genuinely unhurried approach to every patient, so root canal care is more comfortable, more accurate, and less stressful than most people expect. For referring dentists, it also means a partner who is easy to work with, communicates clearly, and takes good care of the patients they send our way.

Minimally invasive techniques

Every decision Dr. Lynn makes in the treatment room is guided by one principle: do what is necessary, and nothing more. By preserving as much healthy tooth structure as possible, he gives each tooth the best chance at a long, strong future, and gives each patient a smoother, more comfortable recovery.

Care from an endodontist specialist

Root canal therapy is all an endodontist does, and that focus translates into a genuinely different experience for patients. Dr. Lynn draws on advanced training and specialized numbing techniques that go beyond what most general dentists have available, making treatment far more comfortable than people expect.

Sedation options

For patients who need a little more help relaxing, oral conscious sedation is available when appropriate. We talk through the right fit during your consultation so you know exactly what to expect.

CBCT imaging and surgical microscopes

Every procedure at Dogwood is supported by cone beam CT imaging and endodontic surgical microscopes, tools that allow Dr. Lynn to diagnose with exceptional accuracy.
