About Us
Dogwood Endodontics was founded on a belief that root canal care can feel nothing like the experience most patients dread. Dr. Michael Lynn opened the practice in Concord to offer something he felt was missing: endodontic care that is genuinely attentive, unhurried, and designed around the patient rather than the schedule. His focus is on the people who arrive nervous, the teeth other offices have written off, and the kind of experience that leaves patients wondering why they were ever worried in the first place.
Meet
Dr. Michael Lynn
Dr. Lynn grew up in Kernersville, North Carolina, and likes to joke that the oxymoron of his life is growing up playing hockey and then becoming a dentist. He lost his first tooth taking slap shots at a wall as a kid. Years later, that early run-in with dentistry turned into a career focused on the part of the field most patients dread: the root canal.
His training is rooted in a deep commitment to the science of endodontics. He earned a BS in Public Health from East Carolina University, an MS in Biomedical Sciences from Mississippi College, and a DMD from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. He then completed an Endodontic Certificate and an MSD at the Medical University of South Carolina, focusing his clinical work entirely on root canal treatment, retreatment, apicoectomies, and internal bleaching. Dr. Lynn is a board-certified endodontist and received a Medicine Mentor Scholars grant to fund his research, demonstrating his commitment to advancing the field.
Dr. Lynn's favorite moments at the office are the ones that change a patient's mind about endodontics. People walk in scared out of their minds and walk out saying, "Man, that was so much better than I expected." Using techniques that general dentists typically don't have access to, he's able to get patients incredibly numb, to the point that many fall asleep during treatment. He also takes pride in saving teeth that other dentists have already recommended for extraction.
His approach is knowledgeable and informative without being clinical or rushed. He takes the time to explain what's happening, why it's happening, and what to expect afterward, so patients can make decisions with confidence rather than fear. That same approach extends to referring dentists, who can count on clear communication, efficient scheduling, and a streamlined hand-off back to the general office.
Dr. Lynn is an active member of the American Dental Association, the American Association of Endodontists, and the Greater Charlotte Study Club.
Outside the office, you can find him playing hockey, working on his golf game, or cooking at home with his family.

What to expect at your first appointment
Most first visits at Dogwood Endodontics are short, focused, and a lot less intimidating than patients expect. A typical consultation takes about ten minutes, and if treatment is needed the same day, the procedure itself usually runs around forty-five minutes. You'll know what's happening at every step, and you'll leave with a clear understanding of what comes next.
Patient Experience
From the moment you contact our office, the focus is on helping you feel calm and cared for. Because many patients reach out while they’re already in pain, our team will ask a few questions ahead of your visit so we can schedule the right type of appointment and make your experience as smooth as possible. When you arrive, you’ll be welcomed into a quiet, elevated environment complete with neck pillows, headphones, and a coffee bar stocked with water and sparkling beverages. During treatment, Dr. Lynn uses advanced endodontic numbing techniques designed to keep you exceptionally comfortable, so you can relax and feel at ease throughout your procedure.
What to Bring
To keep your first visit efficient, please bring the following with you

Advanced technology paired with a calming patient experience
Precision matters in endodontics, which is why our Concord office is equipped with advanced imaging and magnification technology designed to support accurate, efficient care. At the same time, we’ve created an environment that feels comfortable and calming, with thoughtful amenities and small details that help you feel more relaxed from the moment you walk through the door.
CBCT with limited field of view
Our CBCT scanner captures highly detailed 3D images of your teeth, roots, nerves, and surrounding structures, allowing Dr. Lynn to diagnose problems with greater precision and plan treatment more accurately. This advanced imaging technology helps us deliver safer, more efficient care while minimizing surprises during your procedure.
Handheld digital x-rays
Handheld digital x-rays let us capture diagnostic images right at the chair, with significantly lower radiation than traditional units. The images appear instantly, which keeps your appointment moving and reduces the back-and-forth that can make dental visits feel longer than they need to be.
Endodontic microscope
Every root canal at Dogwood Endodontics is performed under a high-powered endodontic microscope. The magnification and lighting allow Dr. Lynn to see fine canal anatomy, hairline cracks, and previously missed issues with a level of clarity that isn't possible with the naked eye.
Heat-treated NiTi rotary files
We use heat-treated nickel-titanium rotary files to clean and shape the inside of your tooth. These flexible instruments follow the natural curves of your canals more accurately than older files, which means a more thorough cleaning and a gentler experience for you.
Elevated beverage station
We’ve stocked our coffee bar and beverage cooler with thoughtful options like fresh coffee, sparkling water, Poppi, and other refreshments to help make your visit feel a little more comfortable. Whether you need a moment to relax before treatment or want something refreshing afterward, we’ve created a space that feels welcoming from start to finish.

Your next step starts with a simple conversation.
If you are in pain, have been referred for a root canal, or just want to know what your options are, we would love to hear from you. Our team will take a few minutes to understand your situation and make sure you are scheduled for exactly the care you need.
